No Straight Lines: My Journey Into Marketing
Hi, I’m Georgia, the newest member of the Gadd Marketing team.
If you’d asked me a few years ago what I’d be doing now, I’m not sure I would have had an answer. My career journey hasn’t exactly been a straight line, but looking back, all of the twists and turns have helped me figure out what I actually enjoy and, more importantly, what I don’t!

School and I never really saw eye to eye, so when it came to deciding what to do next, I decided to spread my wings a little and go to college rather than staying on for sixth form like most of the people I knew.
I studied Travel & Tourism, convinced that maybe I had found the career path for me. College also gave me my first real taste of independence. I became much more comfortable doing things by myself, meeting new people and figuring things out as I went.
I chose not to go to university, which at the time left me feeling a little lost. I knew I wanted to do something creative and varied, and I definitely knew I didn’t want a job that felt boring or repetitive I just hadn't quite figured out what that looked like yet.
Eventually, I decided to take a chance on something completely different and started a Digital Marketing apprenticeship.
It was my first proper introduction to the world of marketing and content creation, and I quickly realised that I loved the creative side of it.
I did, however, realise that the industry I was working in wasn't quite the right fit for me. So, naturally, I tried something else!
I moved into creating content for a coffee shop, which felt much more like my speed.
It combined two of my favourite things - coffee and social media!
Fast forward to now, and I've joined Gadd Marketing as a Marketing Co-ordinator. It's funny because my career journey has felt a little all over the place at times and I think that's something I'm learning to embrace you don't necessarily have to know exactly where you're going to end up. Sometimes you just have to try things, figure out what you love (and what you really don't!) and keep moving forward.
When I'm not creating content, you'll probably find me doing something fun with my girls. I'm a big fan of making plans, going to events, finding new places to eat and drink, and generally making the most of my free time. (And filming it all!!)
One of my favourite things I've created outside of my career is Her20sCircle, a community I started for women in their twenties to meet like-minded people and make new friends.
What started as a little idea has grown into a lovely community, with everything from walks and coffee meet-ups to creative events and nights out. It's something I'm really passionate about because I know how easy it can be to feel a little lost in your twenties - something I can definitely relate to!
So, whether I'm creating content for a brand, planning something for Her20sCircle or convincing my friends that we absolutely need to go to ABBA Voyage, I love having something creative to get stuck into.
